How to Bridge to Gnosis Chain — Gas Ready

How to bridge to Gnosis Chain starts prior to the bridge opens: the sender has the asset on its current network, enough native gas currency for the outbound transaction, and a wallet address under its control. The sender then selects the source and Gnosis Chain, checks the route and amount, signs the transfer, and verifies the received balance on Gnosis.

What has to be ready before bridging?

A blockchain bridge connects otherwise isolated blockchain ecosystems so assets or messages can move between them. First, keep the token to be moved in a wallet on the source chain. Then hold enough of that chain’s native currency to pay the transaction fee. Gnosis documentation identifies xDAI as the native asset used for gas and transaction fees on Gnosis; Ethereum transactions generally require ETH for gas.

For the wallet, use a tool such as Rabby. Confirm that the wallet contains the correct token, is connected to the correct source network, and has spare gas. Do not start with the entire balance committed to the transfer.

How to bridge to Gnosis Chain

When the source is Ethereum and the destination is Gnosis Chain, choose Gnosis Bridge at the route-selection step. I treat this as a decision point: check the displayed source, destination, token, recipient, estimated output, and fee before connecting.

  1. Connect the wallet. Open the selected bridge and connect the wallet holding the asset. Check that the source network shown by the wallet matches the bridge.
  2. Configure the transfer. Select the token and amount, confirm the receiving address, and review the estimated amount arriving on Gnosis. Approve the token only if the wallet requests approval.
  3. Sign the transaction. Verify the website address, chain, amount, and recipient in the wallet prompt. Sign the requested transaction and save its transaction hash. If the bridge is still processing, do not resubmit just because the screen has not changed.
  4. Check the destination. Switch the wallet to Gnosis Chain after the transfer completes. Use Blockscout to search the wallet address or transaction hash and inspect the transfer record.

How do you know it worked?

The check is visible: the Gnosis wallet shows the expected token balance, and the explorer shows a successful transfer for the same recipient.
